2. Create a project

A Project contains the clip libraries as well as the setups saved with your project.
We will restore an archived project which was prepared for these tutorials in the next exercise. But we need to start the application and select an active project first to access the Archive module.

We will now create a new project that will be used only to access Smoke this first time. This will allow us to see how a project is created.

1. Click the Project popup menu and choose create new project.
2. Click in the project Name field and type a name for your tutorial project.
Call it "Smoke_Startup".
3. Press ENTER.
4. Choose 1920 x 1080 HD 1080 as the default project resolution.
5. Choose Proxies On in the Proxy Options.
Keep the default size option Frame Percentage – Scale 0.50.
Note that a proxy is a smaller version of your original files.
You can toggle between full resolution and proxy size at any time if you need to increase the system interactivity. This is useful when you are working with intense effects on a shot.
6. Press Create Project.
Your project is created and you are back at the login screen.
