Editdesk overview:
The Editdesk interface is divided into several sections:
- On the left are folders that you can use to organize the footage you are using on the EditDesk.
- In the center, you have the Source Area that displays the source clips you are working on. You can change the layout of this view to display the player.
- At the bottom, you find the Record Area, which displays the timeline. It’s empty at the moment.
To display clips:
1. To display a clip folder on the Source Area, click on the View tab located on the right side of each folder.
2. Click on the arrows to the left of the EditDesk folders to expand the folders.
3. The green folders contain source clips and the red folders contain record clips.
To play a clip:
1. Click the source clip that you want to play.
2. Click the Source Area Layout button and select a player.
3. I choose the Standard player in this example.
4. Choose the Thumbnail view to return to the Source Area.
About the swipe menus:
A particularity of the Smoke interface is the swipe menus.
If you tap the cursor against a swipe bar a different menu will be suddenly displayed.
To return to the previous menu, swipe the cursor again on the same area.
By example, swiping on the right side of the Editdesk will switch between the source area and the player.
You are now ready to start the next editing exercise!

|
The hotkeys to switch between the Source Area and the players are listed in the Source Area Layout.
