HOWEVER, when you reload the scene, the photon emitter shader port becomes disconnected, and there is no more photon contribution to the render via the light shader. If you unplug the mib_blackbody shader, you can redo the steps above to get it working again, but reloading your scene will always result in the mia_photometric_light disconnecting from the photon emitter shader port. The manual even suggests plugging in the mib_blackbody shader into the mia_photometric_light's color port, but its simply not possible. I have created ICE strands and sticked them to a ball. Everything works fine, but I cannot get the shader right. My particles look like this so far (no composition yet straight from Softimage).
