I have made a box with a door that can open and close and when viewed in the hlmv (halflife model viewer) works fine.....but the problem now seems i cant make another one without the door being detatched and several cordinates away from the actual box during the animation. ive tried every possable mesh merge combination to try and solve the problem but i cant even replicate the original box i made. Infact now when i export the original box it does the same thing...the door during animation is not attached to the box no more and several co ordinates off. here is a picture of the original. as you can see the animation andthe door are in the correct place. here is what i seem to get now... the door is way off the actual model.... i freeze all transforms prior to bone placement. then merge the mesh and envelope......cant figure out what im doing wrong all of a sudden help would be appreciated.... 2012-03-08T19:35:20+02:00 Greyed out options. http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/greyed-out-options/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/greyed-out-options/page-last/#When:09:37:40Z I don't know why the Modify>Model button is greyed out and I don't know how to ungrey the Export Model option. I mean I created a model out of a cube primitive but yet I can't do anything to get those greyed out options to work. 2012-03-05T09:37:40+02:00 Change in loading time http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/change-in-loading-time/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/change-in-loading-time/page-last/#When:19:30:09Z Hi, I'm new to SoftImage Mod Tool 7.5, after a bit of trouble installing it on Windows 7 64-bit (had to do it in safe mode, found some help for that online), I started a project to build a model of Chun-Li, from Street Fighter IV. At first everything went well, and it still does, however for some reason loading time has increased dramatically at a sudden point, without me doing much in between. It was like I moved a few vertices, restarted and reloaded, and suddenly what took three seconds to load before (the model not the program I mean) now takes upwards to thirty seconds. To my knowledge I have only used transformations and rotations on individual vertices, and used 'Create Polygon' and 'Create Edge' to make it, no fancy options just basic modelling oh and rotoscope. That's it. Does anybody know what I need to get back to the old loading times, it is rather frustrating to wait so long and have no idea why it's the case, I worry it's gonna crash and I'm gonna lose all my data and hard work :( Thank you! When I try and add a texture to my character model I get an error, says I can't do it (see attached image). Is there some simply work-around or something I forgot to do, I'm thinking maybe there's an edge somewhere that doesn't turn the right way, but it'd be rather much work to inspect each one lol- any suggestions/inputs would be welcome Cheers!! Jesper 2011-11-15T18:06:58+02:00 General ModTool problem - geometry "freaking out" http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/general-modtool-problem---geometry-freaking-out/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/general-modtool-problem---geometry-freaking-out/page-last/#When:18:05:33Z I don't have a more elegant way of expressing the problem, so I took some screenshots. I'm working on a hat (hence the sphere) and as soon as I start manipulating the mesh, it collapses. 1-2: New scene, create a sphere mesh. 3: Using edge select mode, and delete everything in the lower half of the sphere. 4: Manually select the edge loop around the equator (edge loop selection and range selection are not working, but that's another problem.) 5: Scale the selected edge loop. As soon as I do this, the wireframe "disappears." The selection I'm working with remains, but the transform controls are 6-7: By changing the view mode to Shaded, I can see that the polys are still there, but they've been mangled. Also, if I change the view mode to "shaded" in the "camera" viewport (anyone know why they changed this from the "user" default?) my wireframes disappear in ALL the viewports and I can't get them back. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm running this on 32-bit windows XP if that makes any difference. 2011-11-15T18:05:33+02:00 New and Green http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/new-and-green/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/new-and-green/page-last/#When:18:04:46Z Not sure which is the best section to put this in, so here goes... I have downloaded softimage mod tool, and am looking to try and play about with it! This is a bit of an odd question I know, but has anyone got any (free) games that I could edit characters, models and scenes etc, and see the effects of animation/renders etc in the finished article. Trust that is a inteligent/reasonable request! Many thanks in anticipation! 2011-11-15T18:04:46+02:00 Just looking for some advice... http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/just-looking-for-some-advice/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/just-looking-for-some-advice/page-last/#When:18:04:01Z I'm just looking for a bit of advice and a point in the right direction! I am wanting to create some small games for personal use only to give me a basic grasp af all the processes involved in game creation. With a budget of £0($0), i was looking for a suitable game engine that was FOC(for modeling, surprise surprise, i have Softimage Mod tool - thanks Autodesk). Have you any recomendations for good/user friendly game engines out there that are free/have free non-comm licenses, and the pros and cons of it/them? Sorry to be so vague, but i am still just trying to get a feel for everything! Appreciate your time in putting up with me..! eyeconic 2011-11-15T18:04:01+02:00 Hi- Looking for a crash course http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/hi--looking-for-a-crash-course/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/hi--looking-for-a-crash-course/page-last/#When:19:01:19Z Hi I am a novice in modeling, I was hoping someone could point me to a crash course in creating a basic model in Softimage Mod Tool and the steps to take to getting it to work in CS:S. Just a basic model is fine it can be just a sphere or a triangle or something, im not worried about animating it just yet. Ive done a bunch of maps in Source Hammer Editor but want to learn to make basic models of my own to use here and there. I have watched so many videos and read thru some tutorials but they always start off with a detailed model and none have shown the steps from creation all the way to getting it running in CS:S. Thanks for any help. 2011-01-29T19:01:19+02:00 need help:how to measure phong amount http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/need-helphow-to-measure-phong-amount/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-softimage-modtools/valve-source-40half-life-241/need-helphow-to-measure-phong-amount/page-last/#When:17:46:12Z xsi have valve source addon it means they have the realtime game shader right?? i want to apply realtime shader which similar or exact same behaves as VertexLitGeneric shader or similar preset, shader compound things (non realtime) i have tried marmoset toolbag and it was similar what im looking for but i cant measure with it marmoset doesnt similar source engine it would be cool if mudbox or 3dcoat have the shaders. measure all map balances while texture painting 2011-01-16T17:46:12+02:00
