Hey everyone,

I downloaded two versions of XSI Mod tool (6.0 and 7.5)

When I try to install either of them I get this error “An error (-5006 : 0x80070005) has occurred while running setup
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications
If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Softimage”

I’m running Windows 7 64bit. I’ve attempted to run in compatibility mode using Windows Vista Service pack 2 with both versions of Mod tool.
I shut down all anti-virus and anti Mal ware programs and don’t have really anything else running in the back round. I have also rebooted my computer but still to no avail

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in Advance to any responses!

I’ve seen only one other case with those specific errors.

The customer was able to get Softimage installed by leaving his antivirus software running and ignoring the errors and warnings.

However, he ultimately reinstalled the OS (not just because of Softimage), and after that Softimage installed without error.

Normally I would try installing the VC++ and .NET stuff separately, and then installing Softimage.

Also, try clean booting before you install.

I have a similar issue when I downloaded the ModTool (directly and with the manager). I run setup and it shows the splash screen, then half way loading I get this error: Unhandled Exception Error Number: 0x80040707 Description: DLL Function Call Crashed: gdi32.DescribePixelFormat. Then the setup crashes :[ ... Its kinda frustrating that I got the software from autodesk’s website but the setup is not working.

Please help if you can :]

If you still get the same error after a restart, then try booting in Safe mode and then running the installer.
