| HTC Flyer compatible android version

Hi,
I am very curious if a dedicated version of Sketchbook for android tablets is in the works, especially one that would support the N-trig pressure sensitive stylus of the new HTC flyer tablet?

This last post is from May… is all hope dead for Autodesk to support the Flyer stylus? I have heard that Android Honeycomb has more support for digitizers, so maybe there is a possibility on that front--or perhaps Autodesk is waiting for official Honeycomb release?. Curious if anyone who is running beta version of Honeycomb on the Flyer has actually tried Sketchbook with stylus…

I’m right there with you guys. The Flyer comes out here in America in the next couple of weeks, I’ve preordered it. My wife has an iPad and I bought Sketchbook Pro for it and I love it… but, of course, 30 years of art with a pen/pencil means I really can’t get into the concept of drawing with my finger.
I’ve been waiting for a stylus tablet to purchase my tablet and with the Flyer, I’m in.
I will, of course, purchase Sketchbook Pro for my Flyer, but will it work with the stylus? I’m okay if you guys don’t get pressure sensitivity working until a little later on (Though as with the fellow above, I’ll pay $8 or $12 for a full-package pressure sensitive reading version!) I’m worried, however, that it will simply “Snapshot” the page and then put it in notes. Has anyone in the UK tried to use the stylus in Sketchbook Pro?
One other request: I need to be able to load larger pictures; 2500x2500 or maybe even 3500x3500. I know we are limited by memory and space, but the bigger we can make it, the less I have to chop up in Photoshop before transferring it over to the Flyer for work.
Thank you for your hard work, guys! I’ve been a fan of Autodesk since 1992, you guys rock!

and i’m RIGHT THERE too, just bought this baby (delivered this morning yay), the n-trig digitizer works awesome, and the only thing missing is a decent piece of software, such as sketchbook mobile :D…
but for now, when i launch sketchbook mobile and my stylus gently touches the screen, i get a frustrating “you cant scribble here"… :(
I’m a senior concept artist at massiveblack inc, we work for games, movies and advertising. I’ve been looking for a digital sketchbook forever, and i believe a LOT of people in the industry and in art in general are craving for such a portable solution… i’ve been experimenting different hardwares in the past (tablet pcs, and other pen pressure enabled devices), but i believe we are getting there at a hardware level…
Now, we really need you guys to make the magic happen :D
Sketchbook mobile is a really sweet application, and with the upcoming of these new generations of pressure sensitive tablets, it could be THE ultimate mobile sketching tool :)
anyway, on a side note, and not to be a smart ass or anything, 2 things came to my twisted mind when trying the Flyer:
- the stylus has 2 buttons, would be nice to be able to set the bottom one as the color picker, i do that on my wacom and it is the best thing EVER, makes it so fast to model volumes and mix colors… please consider this… this is the best :)
- and another thing specific to the flyer, when u turn the tablet from portrait to landscape (or the other way around) the built-in android buttons also switch with the screen to keep them at the bottom, which leads to have potentially 3 re-mappable buttons on the side of your canvas. Not sure if a program can override disabled buttons, but i think there’s definitely something interesting here…
but i’d be the happiest concept artist ever with pen pressure enabled and the color picker on the stylus :D
if u need feedback i’m right there, please bother me :)
thanks for the hardwork, really appreciated
peace

I just purchased my Flyer yesterday.
I don’t know how hard it would be to simply make Sketchbook Pro Sense compliant so it wouldn’t give us the “You can’t scribble here” error and allow the stylus to work like a “finger”.
Sure, I want it to use the multiple levels of pressure sensitivity, that would be way awesome! But right now no one out there has drawing-capable apps for the Flyer, so I can’t draw at all with my stylus. I have a feeling everyone is working to make an awesome app for drawing with the Flyer which’ll be out in 2 or 3 months. That’s cool, but it means that in the meantime I’m “Fat Finger” painting on the flyer… which makes it no better to use than the iPad… Which is not to say that this situation is YOUR fault, by any means. Simply a “Is there a shortcut that we could use?”
I’ll happily live without pressure sensitivity/button usability for 2-3 months (Or even longer) if I could just get the stylus to not be disabled in-program.
Again, I’d happily pay the larger price “$12.00” for an HTC sense compliant version of Sketchbook Pro. This is going to be my core app on my machine, it’s WAY worth the extra money (As I said above, I’ve already purchased Pro for the iPad)

I get the feeling the devs don’t check in here;)
Anyone know how to contact The devs at Autodesk? I can’t seem to find a useful way on their web site.
Given HTC will be putting this n-trig “scribe” tech in all their tablets, there should be a pretty sizable customer base in the future. Maybe not today… we are small yet. But The View with 3g/4g will be out this month, and later this summer, a larger tablet with scribe is on the way, so I would hope they don’t overlook the opportunity to make a very cool and useful addition to the software.
I’ve read that HTC has released the API for their pen tech, And HTC has told me themselves, it is entirely up to 3rd party developers at this point to integrate it. Please, please do.

I think this problem is not only for the htc flyer. Much of the android tablet product will release with n-trig digitizer. Pressure sensitive function is very important problem for artist and everybody. So autodesk is must update pressure sensitive function in the sketchbook app. This function is will make the more powerful painting app.

Well… I have heard really sucky news:
As of July 2nd, HTC hasn’t released the SDK for the pen, yet. Nor for the N-Trig digitizer… so there is nothing Autodesk can do for us. To add insult to injury, HTC isn’t saying when they plan on releasing the SDK… I emailed HTC and got a pretty stock “We’d like to see that too!” sort of reply, with no details on the when on that matter.
So, for now we can do nothing but wait.
I guess I’ll post here when I hear that the SDK has been released.

Good news, they did release Pen SDK at htcdev.com at last!
Looking forward for pen support in Sketchbook Mobile.
