I’ve installed Maya 2012 for Mac OS, educational
license - and I got this problem:

License was not obtained
Tried Maya 2012 (657D1 2012.0.0.F), error 20

License method:
environment variable MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD=’standalone’

Product choice:
environment variable MAYA_LICENSE=’unlimited’

License file override:
environment variable MAYA_ALT_EN is not set

this pop up message appears and the program stops.
I read some solutions for Win Os, but they don’t work for mac.
I have a MacBookPro6,2, Intel Core i5 2,4 GHz, ram 4gb
did anyone solve the same problem?
Thanks in advance for any help,

Sergio

Is this the first time you’ve installed Maya on this machine or have you had a previous install?
Also, what operating system are you running on your MacBookPro?

Does the login/account your using have administrator rights?

Also, the message is reporting you’ve installed as a Standalone license, are you sure that is what you bought? (Not network?).

Yes I have the right permission as admin.

yes I’m sure about the standalone license.

Hmmm, possibly an issue with your license…
Did you receive it as a file from Autodesk or did they email it to you in text form?

I’ve downloaded it directly from autodesk website,
it is an educational license

...but how was your license key sent to you?

this is how did it work: first I got key product and serial number in order to be able to download and install the software, once installed I tried to run maya 2012 but it didn’t work and only the message above came out, so I’ve never arrived to the point of asking any activation request to autodesk.

if you meant this, I didn’t receive any license code so far.

The first time you start Maya (after installing), it asks you for your serial and product key (or you can try it in demo mode for 30-days). This is where you need to enter that information…
