Hello,
I have attached the original DWG file that I am trying to get into 3DS Max. When I imported it, in the Import Options box, I played with Auto Smooth and Curve Steps and it didn’t seem to help.

Thank you for any assistance.

Hello Doughboy12,
Thank you so much for responding. I am getting a file Open Fail message on your Max file. Maybe save it down to 3ds max 2010?

What I would like to do is have a 3d image that is as smooth as the original is while being true to the shape.

I have figured out how to get the mouldings in somewhat smooth, but when I import some of the DWG files, i do not get the carved look there should be on the face of the profile. Any ideas what i need to do to get this?

I am attaching the original DWG file and an image of what I got when importing it.

Thank you so much for any help.
D.Hudson

You could do it with a texture map.

How would a texture map work with this? All the carved parts that cast shadows aren’t there. How would I make that work?
