Take a look at the two screens attached. A simple test.
After having attended the “Autodesk in Visualisation: Streamline your 3ds Max compositing workflow with Adobe After Effects” webinar yesterday - I wanted to try out State Set - and import camera/objects to After Effects.

Instead of getting 6 solids forming a simple box I get this mess
Any suggestions what’s going on?

Hey,

same here… I got the wrong scale, orientation and relation between objects and cameras in After Effects. I have absolut no idea, whats going on and cannot find anything helpful in the web. Have you, or anybody else, found a solution?

LG,
Claudia

I’m afraid I can’t offer any helpful information other than to say that State Sets, or at least where they relates to the link to After Effects are horribly unpredictable, and tempermental.  I tried to use the AE features on one project but gave up after having countless problems.  I do not consider the feature to be finished or even remotely production worthy.  It’s a good idea, but it’s only half-cooked.

Hi mdavis,
I agree with you. Good idea, but not useful in every detail....

I´ve found the solution for my main problem. My system settings in windows caused the scaling and ralation differences in After Effects.

In this link its described how to get rid of it.

Now I have to test the tool a bit more to get a final opinion if its good or not. At the moment for example, when I animate the scale in 3D Max its not transferred to After Effects. But maybe its my fault and I just don´t know how to do it because I´ve just started using it. Or does anybody else know that, too?

Have a good day

I’m glad you were able to solve your problem.  But definitely be warned, if you try to do anything remotely complex you will most likely end up very frustrated.  I saw the State Sets feature begin to act very erratically.  It was sending too much information to After Effects --- many items that I had not selected, and it made the After Effects composition unusable.
