I’m having a frustrating time trying to use select invert.
I’m not sure whats going wrong.
I’m extruding 2022 polys at the same time, I extrude, then I want to select the opposite face’s and shrink the selection so I have the faces I extruded from selected.
Thing is when i select invert, the entire mesh is selected.
Could this be a memory issue ? ..I only have 2gig ram.

OK I just tried it on a smaller mesh...same thing’s happening.
I also tried a shell modifier, select inner and outer faces...but again when I select invert all faces are selected.
If i select the four sides of the shell / extrusion, it works , if i select only the faces i need select invert selects everything.?...weird.

What happens if you Select Invert twice?
You should return to the previous selection, if so, then the first invert did not select all.
What happens to the Selected count (bottom of the Selection rollout) if you Invert once (note the number) then select all (Ctrl+A)? The count should increase showing that not all were selected (prior to the Ctrl+A).
I just tried it on a cube (3*3*3 segments), converted to EP, selected the centre poly on each side, extruded, Ctrl+I (select invert) and sure enough the previously selected ones are no longer selected, but all the others are.

Hmmm because you guys are so helpful I’m going to be honest with you....
...ahem....i was in wireframe view and what I thought were selected edges ....were actually selected faces...so when i inverted it looked like all the edges were selected :)...doh!
