Does anyone know anything about the San Francisco XSI user group? The website xsisf.com hasn't been update in what looks to be a very long time, and it still mentions a forthcoming "first" meeting.

dunno... I think Sheepfactory from cgtalk was trying to organize it, but he's not even in SF anymore....

I posted the same question at CGTalk in early January and didn't get any response.

It's something that will take a bunch of dedication to set up run and if the involved parties are busy I can see why nothing has happened.

If there are enough XSI users in the bay area maybe an informal meeting can be set up. Just a thought.

I'm up for it. How many of us are there in this area? I'm sitting in an Alameda Starbucks right now and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here right now running XSI. ;)

You should see if the guys at Pixel Corps would be interested as well, they have participate with previous XSI SF User groups.

I'm quite interested (although 45min away in <sarcasm> beautiful </sarcasm> Antioch).

Never having been to a user group meeting, what could one expect to occur at such
an event? (besides beer and launching off chandeliers , of course.) :)

Yea sorry about that guys. me and Raffael tried organizing some meetups but couldn't manage to get all the potential speakers schedules to match and then I moved to Vancouver. If anyone in San Francisco wants to take over and carry on contact Raffael from XSI base for details.

Some or all of the following: There are presentations given by industry pros or developers. Expert users can demo their workflow or show solutions to specific problems. People can have a chance to interact with others and do show and tells of current projects.

As SheepFactory mentioned, this all requires coordinating schedules and contacting speakers as well as finding an available after hours meeting location with enough seating and ideally a projector display.

What would people like to get out of a meeting? I was originally thinking of an informal get together of XSI users but what would everyone else want to do?

thanks for that info, ndog. What you describe sounds like it would be well worth it. :)

I'd love to see/hear some local XSI pros in action (or talk about project post mortems)...but
I'd also be down for just an informal gathering to meet some other S.F.-area XSIers.

As long as we don't meet in the next week, count me in. ;)

cheers.

how about an informal meeting to figure out the feasibility of a legit user group meeting.
then rather than dithering around worrying about who can and cant make a specific date, at least we meet up and get the ball rolling.

Sounds like a plan, we'll need to know how many people are interested in showing up and decide on a time and location.
