Hey guys i was wondering if any of you could tell me, or point me to a tutorial that will show me how to end up with a clay like render. thanks
Hey Dageris,
If you'd agree that a clay render would be heavily AO dependent, you might want to check this thread (http://community.softimage.com/showthread.php?t=798&page=4) , use it as a basis and start adjusting from there until you get the look you want.
Good luck!

Hi, our tutorials on polygon modeling and subD modeling teach you how to achieve a clay render.
http://i3dtutorials.com/tutorial/22_introduction-to-subd-modeling-in-softimage-xsi
http://i3dtutorials.com/tutorial/8_introduction-to-polygon-modeling
We sell our training in chapters as well, so if you only need to learn to make clay renders, you can purchase the chapters called "Rendering a Scene for Final Presentation". Have fun!

Heh, that tutorial is a bit weird imo. I just quickly scanned over it, but why would you use a flat light for the dome material? And personally I don't even like using physical dome objects because they tend to give you bad results... imo. Even his final result is pretty blotchy.
Here is a quick scene I put together for anyone that's interested. It's more of a 2008 setup.

And a better subject test using Christophe Desse's car model.

Thanks Gene, quick and effective.
