Hello Everyone!

I just downloaded the 30 day trial of Softimage. (Going to purchase it once my tax return comes in.)

Background:
I have a Bachelor degree in Media Arts and Animation from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and currently work in the automotive industry 3d modeling checking fixtures in Autodesk Inventor. In my limited free time I work on my art for a game I am making. My close friend is coding for the game and just wrapped up his Master Degree. We are using the Torque Game Engine Advanced from www.gragagegames.com.

Programs Experience:
Autodesk Inventor
Autodesk 3d Studio Max and Maya
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Premiere
Adobe After Effects
Deled 3D editor
Torque Game Engine Advanced
Basic Html (Website Creation)

Questions:

1.) Back in college we used Max and Maya only. Are there any books or resources available to help transition over to Softimage? (I love the forums and am currently in the process of viewing the videos. There are so Many!!!)
2.) Is there anyone here that makes content for Torque with Softimage? If so do you have any pointers?
3.) How well does XSI work with Z-brush? After the XSI purchase I plan on buying Z-brush to work with normal maps for Torque.

Btw my website is www.jlmstudio.net (http://www.jlmstudio.net/). Feel free to take a look!

See you around,
Justin

Hi & Welcome to the community :)

For your Maya question, I cant seem to access the detail for this course on the www.3dtutorial.com (http://www.3dtutorial.com) website but Getting Started with XSI course was particularly designed with Maya users in mind. Also dont forget that XSI has settings that makes its shortcut keys similar to the Maya setup.

XSI and Zbrush work realy well, there are several training videos out that that deal specificaly with that workflow both on www.digitaltutors.com (http://www.digitaltutors.com) and www.thegnomonworkshop.com (http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com)

Good luck with your projects!
