Hi,
Does anyone heard about this before?
I have a problem with XSi crashing when trying to import objects from Rhino 4 in 3ds format.
I have no problems with obj files from Rhino.
I am using foundation on vista home premium, have tried to reinstall but the issue remain.
Advice???
Thank you

From what I've found, Vista and XSI just don't work together...

What do u mean?
It seem to work fine so far, only problem is the 3ds import (iges and obj works fine) and some of the links in the help menu.
My first thought was that maybe there is something that has to be done when exporting from rhino.

can you try a different exporter? OBJ is always more stable than anything else...

Hi,
The file opens in other applications, I want to rectify the problem with import of 3ds files into Xsi. Since the option is in the menu it should be possible to import 3ds files.
Any idea of what can be done to resolve the problem?
Thank you.

3ds works fine here... I had to use before and all goes fine.
I don't know what is wrong with your file.
the best solution:
use OBJ
:P
when import doesnt work, you need to keep trying the way you can.
Import and Export operations always require some trial/error because each file is different context.

Agree :) Moreover if you have to work with some other apps and move also animation, bones etc. there is couple other formats that can do this, starting from .xsi (which I can't get work :/ ), .fbx, .dae (collada), pointCache
