Awesome move by Softimage (http://www.softimage.com/products/xsi/promo/challenge22/)
You get the Academic version of XSI 6.5 Ess for the duration of the challenge (must join the challenge to participate). If you end up submitting your work to the judges you get to keep the Academic version. If you win, you get the full commercial version of Ess.

My trail license is interfering with my CgTalk license. XSI is starting up in trial mode and says I only have 29 days remaining. I doubt I can just uninstall and start over. When I look at my keys I see the full license stuff and a trial license in there as well.
Need help.
Thanks

P.S. - Well, I guess I should tell you I started XSI, accepted the trial license. Then went and read the email about how to get CgTalk license. That's how I got stuck I guess.

Well, the good part is. I still have to watch the video tutorials before I start doing any real work. And I need to install Vista SP1 anyway. They said this is the "official" softimage forums so maybe we'll get something back soon.
-TS-
P.S. - Thanks for letting us use your tools for this challenge. I've never use XSI before.

Well..I'm back from the Vista SP1 install. Still no luck. I'm going to try a uninstall-install and see if that gets me anywhere.

Edit: Well, dont do the uninstall. I have reinstalled (did not activate trial yet, or accept eula) but I cant download the CgTalk license anymore.

it also worth to take a look on the Softimage Wiki... plenty of information about activation and all those things.
Maybe your reply is already in there... http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/Category:Support

There is a known problem with the XSI title bar...when you have a Trial license installed, then the title bar always shows "Expires in XX days", even if you also have another, longer-term license installed and you are running the other license.
To see what license you are using
- Start the License Manager
- click Server > Query License Server and then click Run Query
- Look at the "used" column
The problem goes away when the Trial license expires.
The Trial and the CG Talk license are both for Essentials, so if you have both installed, it should not be a problem. After the Trial expires you will still have the CG Talk license.

Hi there I have signed up for this challenge, and thought I would try this offer, even though I have 5.11, but I keep getting this message
CGSociety Challenge XXII

Did you use the same email as you did on CGTalk? It checks with CGSociety based on email. Whatever email you're using at CGTalk, enter it in here.

Your softimage.com Web account had not been activated.
I activated it for you.
So, try again, it should work now.
Thanks

I just tried 3 times...
By the way, I think this is a brilliant offer, so don't think I am trying to bag it or anything. It just doesn't seem to like me.

Your softimage.com account is a different account than SOFTIMAGE|NET.
Your softimage.com account uses the email address grafixsuz@gmail.com .
Is that the e-mail address associated with your CGTalk account? Because our checker returns FALSE for the email address grafixsuz@gmail.com.

It'd be a good habit if all the problems raised here in the forums, when solved, were given proper explanation.
This will give a proper database of fixes and not only for us.

I have followed the instruction sent in the email to generate the license, but when i click on Update, there is no license to select in the box...
I have tried on an other computer to install the trial and generate a license, but I got the same result.

Kudos to Softimage. This is the most brilliant marketing I have seen in the last 7 years or so next to houdini apprentice.
