Well I decided to get ahead on my next school project, a short that involves smoke, and I choose to do a candle, and the results I have so far are mixed

of course for the wax I'm using sub surface scattering (never used it before)
as you can see the particle explosion doesn't give a nice flickering candle result, and I'm not too happy with the lighting, and I'm kinda stuck, I don't really know what to do from this point.
