Hi,

I'm trying to set up a simple scene where I have a subject(acorn) and a white background.

The subject I want to be shaded with solely AO and I want the entire image to be shades of gray. Only problem is that I want to add a blue glow and 1.) can't figure out how to change the background color to white in a render 2.) can't get the glow to render with a white background.

any help?

thanks,

acorn

anyone know how to change the background of the render to white?

you may have already done this, but I found this to work for me.
create a simple grid
apply a constant material to it
rotate, scale, and position in the backgroundI've asked this question at other forums and never got a response.

Good luck,

So, it was bugging me and I decided to dig a bit more. I found a couple of more ways to do it, and I sure one of these will work for you. In the render passes under environment select add then open the folder called soft3d in that folder use the legacy_night then inspect its properties. There 3 tabs under "SKY" make both Zenith and Horizon white then goto the "Stars" tab and change star density to 0 and last goto ground and turn off the image.

Let me know if this helps

Hey DannyO,

It works, thanks, I have to do some more experimentation but the glow does show up. I was thinking, when you posted your settings maybe I just didn't have the intensity set high enough. Not sure about that at this point but I have a number of things to play with in this scn.

Thanks again,

Is this for an animation?? If not why don't you do it post in photoshop, it would be a 5 minute job to do the glow

Just a thought ?

Hey, sorry it took so long to get back to you but I was trying to get it to work in photoshop. The thing is I *knew that I could do it in photoshop I just couldn't figure it out. On the other hand I would certainly like to find out why softimage, perhaps 3d apps in general, doesn't seem to be able to have a white background with a glow. For the moment this is what I have, done in photoshop. Still needs some work, things to work out

Thanks,
