Hello.
I'm trying to run XSI Mod Tool on my computer (Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit). The installation process worked perfect, but when I try to run it, the GUI appears, but freezes.
I tried anything I could think of. Run as administrator, XP compatibly mode, and even tried to let it freeze a few hours...
Did anyone else experienced this problem?

Hello Stephen,
I tried each one of the solutions there. Nothing helped. But, in the log file "runonce.bat" produced, I found this:
oleaut32.dll: Registration failed; Result == E_ACCESSDENIED
Is this what causing the problem?

I had a similar problem when I first started Modtools on my laptop (same OS). I think the problem had to do with my internet connection/ security (not sure if Modtools had to connect to Softimage the first time to complete the installation, if it had to update, or if this was even the problem).

Hello Cryrid.
I tried to disable my firewall + run as administrator, but still not working.
Can you tell me how did you solve that?
Thanks,

Yes, but it is unusual to get just one error like that (I would expect more ACCESS DENIED errors).
Did you open the command prompt with "Run as Administrator" ?

Yes. To be sure, I tried to run it in normal mode. Many access denied errors.
Thanks,

Unfortunately I can't remember - it's been quite a few months since I've installed it, and I've only had to do it once. Sorry : /

Try disabling User Account Control in the Control Panel. I know from experience it interferes with the license acquisition process in XSI 6, so maybe it has something to do with your problem. It's a really annoying feature that barely serves a purpose anyway, so it's not worth keeping enabled.

Thanks, I tried it, but still freezing...

Are you still getting errors with runonce.bat?
