I might as well kick off this section. Unfortunately I lack programs like zbrush/mudbox, so my offerings will be somewhat pretty basic (as you can probably tell from the watermarks in the larger versions, I'm using Modtools).
In an effort to practice my texturing skills, I spent the last two days working on this everyday girl. The goal is to get at least two different 'skins' out of it.

I still have to plan out the layout for the UV map. Currently I'm thinking using two different maps per mesh (1 for skin, 1 for clothes) to allow me to mix things up.

(The gaps will be used for me to add some additional hair with alpha channels)

Not sure what the rules are about double-posting, but I won't be bumping any threads so:

The result of today's labor. I have the clothes on a 1024x1024 texture, and the skin on a 512x512.

uh, it looks like her shins/knees are kicked in, kinda creepy.
Otherwise it looks amazing so far.

a little tip for you if you want to impress your riggers...
add a slight bend in your limbs that favor their default hinging direction. so for the arms hinge them forward a bit at the elbow. for the knees make sure they are bent a bit forward also. as zac pointed out her knees look kicked in (reverse dog leg)
*edit* try making sure the heels are directly below the hips. or in line with the hips from the side view
try putting her in one of these many game engines available to softimage now

Thanks.
I know what you mean about the curve under the knee as it struck me as being a bit funny too, but I'm just sticking with the model used as a reference:

I'll add a slight bend in the arm once I'm through with the texture as I imagine it will be slight enough as to not to cause warping (same with the knee thing). I'm my own rigger though, so I have an idea of what I'll be in for.
As for engines, I'd like to export her into Source, but probably won't as her proportions are different than the Valve biped, and without MOTOR it would take a long time to rebuild the animations for her proportions : /

you could always just change her proportions for the sake of seeing her in the engines, I don't think it'd be too noticeable, I guess the weird folding of the jeans is to blame for the knee thing, it looks like she pulled the jeans over the tongue of the shoes, doesn't look too naturak

sure but your ik will still have a high potential for flipping the wrong direction. again just a tip to avoid problems later
she is standing with a bit of hyper extension in her knee, most people do that when they stand, unless you character is doing nothing but standing you should probably undo that reverse bend.

Would this be any better?

(Though I think I might have to move the legs a bit still, probably bend them back at the knee a bit more?)

i think that looks like a character i wouldn't mind rigging

Awesome : D
I'll go back to working on the textures and make the slight bend in the arms (and a few more tweaks around the legs). Once I have at least 1 skin set for it, I'll probably export it as an obj and upload it in case anyone wants something to practice rigging/animating, or just so people would be able to view it from more angles to help with critique / suggestions.

Clean optimized modeling and good texturing. Look forward to more. I think the legs could meet halfway between the pictures you posted. It will be easier to rig if she's slightly bent. But it's true in the references her knees are locked.

The mod tool has motor, just go to 'real softimage' mode. Your resolution must be at least 1152x864 to see the menu.
