This tutorial is not new; I posted it in other communities before, but I figured I should mention it here as well since it's XSI.
I encourage that you, the viewers, check the responses on the other forums this was posted on, as some people replied some insightful things:

I hope the tutorial proves useful for some people. :)

something that went wrong on XSIbase very quickly was that resources linked to from the site started to disappear after a while. If resources such as this were uploaded rather than linked to this wouldn't happen.
Just a thought. :-)

If I'm not mistaken this what XSI Database is working toward

Hey,
Yes we are working towards that. Plans are to have a tutorials section that hosts both videos and written tutorials on the XSIDB server. I'm going to push hard for this, this summer.
Later,
Eric T.
PS - Thanks for the tutorial Alanf

Hey guys,
I understand the concerns regarding sites going offline, but I am aware of this and am making sure anything I link or urls I make public are permanent and there to stay.
As for servers going down, if anything's curious, I host the site on NearlyFreeSpeech.net (https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/), which is a wonderful host and the bigger files (like the tutorial video itself) are hosted on Amazon S3 (http://www.amazon.com/S3-AWS-home-page-Money/b/ref=sc_fe_l_2?ie=UTF8&node=16427261) (Simple Storage Service), which makes both bandwidth and storage extremely affordable.
So in other words, I can handle a pretty generous load on my servers and will make sure that my links stay as alive as I am. ;)
ps: ...and if you're still concerned, you're welcome to download and save the tutorial movie, hehe.

Hey Alan, thanks for the tut!
However, about downloading the tut, I 'm experiencing some problems.
First, the web page (where the video should play) loads forever and does not start the video playback.
Second, the link to the downloadable version of the video does not worK.
Is it just me experiencing these problems?
See you,
David

It appears to be working right now over here.
Could you try again? :)
