In xsi7's animation editor
Automatic Slope behaves like Plateau slope
it this normal behavior?
Is there any way to make it behave like 6.5 ?
try the following scene and you'll see what I mean
NewScene(null, null);
GetPrim("Null", null, null, null);
SaveKey("null.kine.local.posy", 1, 0, null, null, false, null);
SaveKey("null.kine.local.posy", 15, 5, null, null, false, null);
SaveKey("null.kine.local.posy", 45, 5, null, null, false, null);
SaveKey("null.kine.local.posy", 60, 0, null, null, false, null);Automatic Slope in 7.0

they removed the old automatic slope, sorry...
while alpha/beta testing all of our animators were very happy with the new auto slope it is unfortunate but softimage cannot always support legacy methods, sometimes you gotta move forward.

I have to say I'm all for the new method of slope calculation. The old way positively encouraged floaty animation...

Thank you scaron & mattmos
I am very much used to 6.5's behavior and
found it be a little awkward at first...
but it seems like I don't have to press SHIFT+0 all the time....
so it's great... Thanks :biggrin:

Naah, you got it wrong, the old way positively encouraged moving holds :smartass:

The old way positively encouraged animators to b**** at xsi, and by reflection TDs would suffer.
All hail the new auto-slope!

Bow down and beg forgiveness from the new auto-slope!!!
Naw but seriously, I thought it was weird at first but then realized I use that method much more often so it was a welcome change for me.

I'm really surprised that there aren't any animators who dislike the new auto slope feature that has been imposed in the latest version of XSI.
In the old XSI, if I wanted to make an animation with subtle movement, I would just use the Auto Slope feature, and do some minor fine tuning to the curves. Now I need to do major reworking of the tangents on multiple keys in order to get the same result. It insane! I really don't understand how an animator would be content with not having full control over the fcurves. Now I can't make a proper spline fcurve without adjusting the tangents of 2 keys on a single animation curve.
I've spent the past 2 days doing secondary animation for hair on a dancing character. The Auto Slope feature would normally save me time, because it would help keep a smooth fluid motion. Now I'm still adjusting fcurves to get the same result! It's driving me crazy!!
Removing the old Automatic Slope feature is NOT a step forward! Keeping the OLD Auto Slope feature and adding the new Auto Slope feature IS a step forward.
