View Full Version : XSI refuses relative paths

I'm on the hold with support ATM, so I thought I'd post this while I wait.

I'm having a problem with XSI 7 refusing to use UNC paths with referenced models. My method of working is this:

Build the scene locally.
When it's finished, do a "save as" and choose the network path to my storage server. I select "copy external files under project" to make sure all textures are copied.
Submit the scene using Deadline.

I just rendered a bunch of sequences overnight and none of the reference models have their textures. When I load the scene from the storage server and check the paths for the textures, they aren't relative - they're pointing at my local drive.

Is there a trick to getting reference models to use UNC paths for textures?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul

I'm seeing this same behavior with XSI 7.
Save Scene As > Copy External Files Under Project does not copy the ref model textures.

And "Copy Files to Project" in the External Files Manager does not copy the ref model textures to the project either.

I made all my models local and then used the External Files editor to change the paths to UNC paths. Not the best workaround, but it works. Hopefully the clients won't make any changes to the models.

Thanks for looking into it Steve
