View Full Version : Automatic wheel rotation with ICE

Here's a compound which uses deformation to automatically rotate a wheel as it moves around, turns, etc.

Yes, sort of a lame thing to be using ICE for, when I could be flocking or stranding... :)
But anyway, it works, and it was fun to do as my first ICE compound thingy.

Here's the compound, and an example scene:

EDIT (8/12): I've uploaded it to the ICE Compound exchange:
http://community.softimage.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=121

And a screen capture movie showing it in operation:

Usage notes in the Compound Properties panel.

Hope some might find it useful, and if anyone sees any room for improvement, or (eek!) finds a problem, please sound off. :)

That looks cool! Why don't you submit this to the ICE compound exchange?

You say it's a lame thing to use ICE for but imo that's a pretty useful thing. I needed something like that ages ago and just ended up animating wheels until they looked nice. The scripted answers seemed too much effort but this... could be handy in future.
