Simple question

I know you can group object with Model > Create > Poly Mesh > Merge. But how can I seperate polygons, edges or points? For example I have a model of a pistol and I would want to seperate the trigger for example how would I do this?

I tried several options and it all didn't work. Couldn't find with few google searches so I hope you can tell me how :)

Select the polygons using "U" or "Y" and then select "Extract Polygons Delete" from the Create/PolyMesh tab. If you choose the Delete options, the originals will be removed from your pistol. If you use Extract Polygons Keep, then you´ll get the trigger as an independent object, but it still will be in the pistol.
