Kewl-Although I think the Ice Compounds area is gonna need sub-catigories straight away.
Otherwise how do we know if say a new particle compound is available vs a deformation compound and the quantity of each type (at a glance) ?-therefore the total accumulation of all (currently 2) and of each type?
And if somebody updates an existing compound how to track it and previous revisions?

Right now there's no "nice" way of doing revisioning. The Downloads section is based of an open-source tool and was made for simple uploads and downloads. You can edit your own upload easily but there's nothing like subscriptions, automatic notification, etc.
We are looking at using VBulletin Projects as a way of tracking the compound development in future.
No doubt, our biggest issue with the web here is a resource issue. We don't have a dedicated web team at the moment. We're all pitching in when we have the time. I'm hoping this will change soon.
Will keep you all updated on how things progress!

Yeah, I think we'd also want to have a linked forum thread for each as well, so that people can relate tips, ideas for fixes and enhancements, exploration of limitations, workarounds, possible applications and stuff like that.
Not complaining mind you, just throwing in some ideas looking forward to the future! :)

Yeh I know. I wish I had more time to work on the web and community stuff. I'm confident we're going to soon have more resources in this area.

Great.
I think displaying compound's author right on the list would be good idea.
When the library is getting bigger and there are many compounds with similar types (particles, liquids, deformations, etc), author names would help a bit.
Maybe at some point someone will point out a compound, like "check Steven Caron's Particle ID" or "you can use Kim's Flocks", and so on, we could address it quickly.
just my 2c.
Leonard,
I notice the ICE Compound Exchange doesn't have a place for Render Tree Compounds. It would be really helpful if there was a location for all 7+ Shaders built as compounds using the new Render Tree. Since these shaders are ICE-like, would putting them in an ICE subcatergory be reasonable? Or would it be best to have a new compound sub-category under Shaders?
