XSI and the Modtool are two different things. Which one did you download and what seems to be the problem?

A ModTool tutorial will show the ModTool layout, which is a special UI layout built especially for the ModTool.

hehe, they both let you make models :D

Can you perhaps show some screenshots from the video and from your downloaded program? That will help in explaining the difference. :)

Blackop, i'm a little confused as to what you're asking here.
You say you downloaded XSI 6 Mod Tool - ok
You say you watched the Mod Tool tutorials from Noesis - ok
When you first launch Mod Tool, the default layout is the Mod Tool layout - ok
The layout shown in the Noesis videos is the Mod Tool layout - ok

but! its in a different version totally different from mine! how do I get his version?

What do you mean?

By what I mean is I cant do anything hes doing because hes got a different version or something, for example: he places a cube, he goes like CREATE>OBJECT then he has a nice list of objects, then he selects cube, I dont have any of that exept create, how do I get his version(watch the videos)

So the create list is empty?

To be honest, I was never fond of the Modtools Layout (perhaps because I was trained using the default XSI UI, so that is what I'm used to). The first thing I did after installing Modtool was switch the layout to 1024x768. Perhaps you might consider that an option, as then you can more easily follow the tutorials here such as

There must be something wrong with your Mod Tool installation. I just tried the same thing and had no problem. In the attached pic, the tutorial is running in Media Player on the right, Mod Tool is running on the left and appears identical to the tutorial. How about showing us a screen shot of how your Mod Tool is different.

EDIT: yes I do not have that version!, ( what program did you use to take screenie?)

He has the exact same version that you downloaded(XSI 6 Mod Tool), which is why what you were asking just doesn't make sense unless your installation is somehow corrupt.

Could you send me a link to download the file please?

http://softimage.com/downloads/XSI_Mod_Tool/default.aspx

Can you please post a screenshot showing us the "version" you have?

Press the "prt scr" button on your keyboard when you're ready
then just open MS Paint and ctrl+v to paste it
save as jpeg then upload it to an image host
copy then paste the image url between these tags
paste image url here
in your reply.

The tutorial was done with Mod Tool version 6. I believe there are no other versions of Mod Tool.

If you want to show us a screen capture, you can host your image in softimage.net as an attachment. When you post your reply here, click on 'Manage Attachments' in the Additional Options section of the reply form. But its got to be an installation problem. Uninstall Mod Tool, re-download, re-install and give it another try.
