Cleaning up meshes

Hi there,
I'm just trying to clean up this cad mesh and I was wondering if anywone knows how to weld points based on distance to other points? Also is there a way to remove points that are sitting in the middle of an edge and obviously not doing anything?
I'm just doing a lot of manual cleanup here and looking for a way to speed it up.

Model/Modify>Poly.Mesh>Filter Points should get the job done.

to get rid of points just sitting there doing nothing Ctr + Del should do the job :)

I ended up using the filter but thanks ximage for the cntrl delete tip. That's handy to know!
