Are there any shaders or shader options in XSI for rendering a polymesh's edges? I'm completely stuck on this problem.

hi,
one simple way to do that, is to make a white pass (just with a constant white), tick "wireframe on shader" and capture it (don't forget to tick "OpenGL Anti-Aliasing")
then you'll can composite this wire render with, for example, an AO pass in a 2d software.

Search for WireD on xsibase.

You can also hook the toon ink lens shader up to your scene camera and activate Facet Detection.
This is explained in the XSI guides:
Toon Shading > Toon & Non-Photoreal Effects > Creating Ink Lines > Rendering Wireframes Using Facet Detection
It'll take longer to render, but you'll have quite a bit of control over the look of the wireframe.
Hope that helps,
J

Thanks everyone! Now I feel silly for asking since I could not find this in the XSI Guide until after it was pointed out to me. I'm beginning to think it is me and not the help documentation that is lacking. But enough of that, I'm excited to learn more about the toon ink lens shader options. I have yet to experiment with the toon shaders and am only now beginning to see the possibilities. Thanks, again, everyone, and especially thank you Jamal for pointing out the toon shaders.

Hello, The toon ink shaders don't really work well for wireframes especially with sub d meshes. I have tried on numerous occasions to get this to work but find its pretty time consuming to set up and render.
If i was you i would use a render pass and a hidden lines pass and composite the 2 together. its a lot easier and you get much better results in my opinion. I can put a qiuck vid together showing you how to do this if you need it.
cheers
