i dont know how they are being triggered, but i know it doesn't have to be a weightmap. he could have triggered the wave in many ways. you can query neighboring particles, so one way would to make a guy raise his arms would be to tell him to look at his neighbors.

Just wondering though, does anyone here know what kind of render options you can tweak for the streak particles? They look really handy.
