Cool demo!. would like to see clubbot geometry actually shatter though.

Yeh sorry. Phil's original title was "faking shattering". I have changed the title to make it clearer.

Allan Mckay has done some nice particle tutorials for Max that are pretty simple to translate into ICE. For static geometry you could do an initial breakup into smaller pieces using scripts or just manually, then have particles assume their shape and position.

This is very nice, I did learn alot from it !

But does anyone know how to line up the particles (which im not sure they are) as nice as the Red guy in the video in this thread?

Actually, helge has re-done shatter, and his version uses the actual surface polygons so its a true shatter.

Hopefully he'll be able to post his soon for you to look at. Its really cool. Way better than mine.

did Helge ever post his scene with the shatter or do a video on it? I would love to see that!

Thanks for the link! ^_^ to bad i can't understand german, but the movies are nice. I'm hoping some one will do a video on how to achieve it in ice.

hi everyone!

This effect is great! However I got the scene back but I can't manage to replace the objects of the scenes by others. The thing is that I would like the polygons to be more numerous and more detailed. How can I do it ? Thank you

I think there was some glitch on the group updates. I don't remember if there was any simple fix for that, but saving and reloading the scene should work if all else fails. Add the objects to the group and set number of particles to match number of objects beforehand.

There's also another glitch with the "instance master hidden" switch, which is on in the scene. It also hides the particles in renderer. One workaround is to animate the originals' visibility after the shapes have been set.

I tried to change your suggest but no success.
is it possible that the scene is broken?
I think I am going to try another method. Like this for Example :)

But...It's very difficult to...

Hmm, I just tried adding a primitive in the group and it worked fine after restart. Still it's always possible there's something wrong, or there might be something that you aren't expecting. The pieces are scaled down quite a bit for example cause I didn't bother resetting transforms. It may be wise to recreate the graph in another scene to be certain.
