Hi:

I'm not sure where to post this and the answer might be easy and I just don't know the file format that might be supported.

I would like to import a point cloud that defines and object on the basis of x,y,z coordinates for several points.

Can this be done?, or is there a plugin? or do I need some software to capture the point cloud into a specific file format that can then be imported?

Thanks

Tim

you're probably talking of pointcaching (yes, you need to save it to a compatible format of course).
PointOven comes free with XSI and is pretty good.
KP (kaipirina) point cache is probably even better and it's free. You can find plugins for xsi, maya and houdini to use KP on highend3d and/or google around for it.

Thanks for the replies. I will see if I can find PointOven in xsi. I'm pretty new to it. Is there some documentation somewhere?

Thanks

yeah, the manuals come with the application, and point oven is in the file menu since it crates and loads files.

Very easy. FIle Import or export MDD , this is for point oven file formates

Good luck
