Hi,
I've finally managed to activate my license, but when I open xsi this error message pops up:
"There is no interactive license available to run xsi, do you want to start the License Manager?"

Am I missing something here? here's what I did:
In license manager I entered my account name, password and registration code. I pressed "Activate" and a license or something was downloaded, then it said that my license is now activated.
Should I do something else?

Thanks

Hi

See the troubleshooting videos for "no interactive license" here: http://community.softimage.com/blog.php?b=39

Thanks Stephen.
I'm not sure what's wrong but the video links don't seem to open... today is not my day I guess :sweatdrop:

Ok, here's the text version:

Start the License Manager (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager).

1) Is the license server running?

If you can click Start Server, the license server is not running.
Click Start Server.

If the Start Server button becomes disabled, and the Stop Server button becomes enabled, then the license server has started successfully.
If you can start the server, then try again to start XSI.

2) If the license server will not start, then check that your license is still installed.

Click Manage Key Database.
Click List Keys.
If you get an error, then try reinstalling your license:
- Click Rename Key Database
- Click Install Keys, click your .keys file, and click Open
- Then close the Manage License Keys dialog box and try to start the license server

3) If your license is installed and the license server is running, then try this:

- Click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > SOFTIMAGE XSI 6.5 > Command Prompt.

- In the command prompt, run these commands:

set SPM_HOST=localhost
xsi

- If XSI does not start, then in the command prompt, run this command:

telnet localhost 7050

You should see "SPM_ACK". Press Ctrl+]. Then type quit and press ENTER.
If you get a connection error, it is something like a firewall that is blocking XSI.

Hi again,
sorry for all the trouble :)
I turned off the firewall just in case. xsi didn't start with the first commands so I tried the second one, it tells me "telnet is not recognized". Any clues?

You are running Vista, right?
telnet is not installed by default on Vista.

Try and start XSI, then go the License Manager and check the SPM Server Log

Do you see any "connection" log entries that look like this?

Jul/03/08 17:38:03 INFO: new connection (fd=356) from MTL-P1917.example.avid.com[127.0.0.1]
Jul/03/08 17:38:03 INFO: DENIED no such version 6.5 license from SOFTIMAGE
Jul/03/08 17:38:03 INFO: (fd=356.0): SPM license connection from sblair@MTL-P1917.example.avid.com[127.0.0.1] WINNT established
Jul/03/08 17:38:03 INFO: connection closed (fd=356) by MTL-P1917.example.avid.com[127.0.0.1]

Also, can you show me the license listing?
- In the menu bar, click Server > Query License Server
- Under Query Options, click Query all licenses
- Click Run Query
