Is there a way to duplicate a model (not polygons) along a curve and animate the duplication?
Thanks,
Paul

Found the answer to my question. Create a path animation with the object and then duplicate/instantiate from animation.

You can't duplicate along a curve, but you could animate your object along a path and duplicate from animation (edit -> duplicate / instantiate -> duplicate / instantiate from animation).
You can't animate the duplication, but you could animate the visibility of your objects.
I hope it helps.

duplicate your object any number of times, select all of them and constrain to the path. The ppg you get will be a multiple ppg for all the constrained objects. In the percentage property type l(0,100) and the objects will be evenly spaced along the curve.
Quicker than duplicate from animation
You keep the constraints so you can animate the curve and have the objects remain on the curve.
again, you'd need to animate the visibilty to get an animated duplicate.

Thanks Kim - that was my first thought as well, but I had hoped there was an operator like duplicate polygons along curve for models (I suppose it would be easy enough to script that). In the end the director killed the shot anyway, so I did a lot of work for nothing. Ahhh animation....
