Does anyone knows a way to have all path in scene, for images, rendering output, referenced models etc to point in network location format like \\Comp1\d\Project\... instead of d:\Project\...?
Not sure if I'm missing something but I spend a lot of time fixing all locations and searching for them.
Can be [Project path] string changed to point to network location of your computer or?
Any idea where am I getting at all :)
Thank you

under file->External Files ... there's a list of all external files along with a global search and replace option.
watch out that you're not saving the scene to a mapped drive path or that the project path isn't through a mapped drive. Under either of those conditions XSI will change all paths to mapped.
Best to just destroy all mapped drives, they're a damn nuiscance.

Why ? what kind of nuisance ?

They need to be set up - you need to map drives identically on all machines across a working network. Worse, they're user based so they need to be set up on all machines for all users else you lose them if another user logs on.
Also, if a user logs off the drives are no longer mapped.
You can get to anything you need using UNC paths so why use them, they create extra work, increase the potential for error for no real purpose. They're a bloody nuiscance.
