Hi, I have a little problem with my rig. When I rotate a model, legs and arms are twisted. Then I have to animate a roll parameter, so is there any expression or some better way to rig so I can avoid that problem? I did just a simple rig from digital tutors rigging lessons.

thanks

I have no idea what have u learn from Digital Tutors, but u can find more better tutorials for rigging Im sure.

or

www.3DMastermind.com (http://www.3dmastermind.com/)

I'd steer clear of the Digital Tutors stuff too. They show no evidence that their "trainers" have industry experience. That being said, who knows if what they are teaching you is solid for a professional work flow.

Check out the 3d Quakers for sure. Charbel is awesome, very knowledgeable and has been using XSI for years.

**But I think you posted this on XSIBase so double check that post, cause I replied a few times...**

Sorry was thinking of another thread I was trying to help on.

DT has its market and targeted audience, so does 3dquakers and 3dtutorial.

he is having what sounds like a very basic problem and cant solve it, and you two right off the bat points him to intermediate to advanced training material...

DT is probably a really good place to start with and the documentations for beginners.

maybe Eric should learn to re-word his replies in a more social manner. youre getting quite a reputation dude...

probably trying to help him solve his issue would have been more constructive then telling him DT sucks...

Hey septopus,

Where did I say they sucked? Stop putting words in my mouth. I've PM'ed you, check your messages.

As for advanced rigging, hate to say it but rigging is advanced stuff. I will say that if you go through the 3dquakers tutorials you'll see that they aren't taught with a gloss over angle, they are thorough and can take someone with little rigging experience through it successfully. It's at a nice pace that one can follow along with while also learning from the instructor, why he is doing something.

Now, I will say that I mistakenly thought I had also helped biancaNieve with the same problem on XSIBase. That was my mistake. I would have posted some help otherwise right away. Now on to helping:

Seems that you may be having problems rotating your entire character because your feet controls (what the leg effectors are constrained to) aren't getting rotated with the model null. Make sure they are under the hierarchy of the model null. Also make sure Child Comp isn't on either. If you could, post an image of your hierarchy or if possible the .scn or model file. Again, I apologize for mistaking your thread with the other one.

Cheers,
Eric T.

hi, thanks for answering, you were right and I fix the problem. Also thanks for dvd's recommendation, DT is very basic and it's hard to learn enough for solving all problems.

cheers

Manny's stuff (3dmm) is actually meant to start from the bottom of the learning curve.

While Eric might have been outspoken in wording his opinions, dumping reputation talk in a public forum is on the dangerous side. Please make sure you also word your posts more carefully :)

septopus (http://community.softimage.com/member.php?u=1755) and I had a bit of a chat and we're squared away. No further discussion is needed.

Thanks though Jaco. :)
