A little outline: I've been traveling Europe for six weeks, before that, XSI was running fine, and when I get back, it just won't start. Well it says there's no interactive license.

I ran the License Manager, in VistaUltimate64bit, by clicking run as administrator and start server won't work; if I click get license, it says
" ********* Generating key request code ******
SPM_FATAL ERROR (C:\Windows\system32\spm\spm_keyid.exe) : (pid=3376)
unrecoverable application error

after looking at that for a while, I didn't know what the hell was up but I clicked done (pushing my luck...) to the Login and Registration page. I see the box for "Activated License" and it says that "A license was found for this hostId. To download click download license" but I can't click it...

So I've tried reentering my information into the fields below download license and click activate but it says after the prompts of do you want to proceed or not:

"Error: We could not read your hostId. We need this information to activate your software. Please contact Support@softimage.com to resolve the issue."

All I have to ask is whether this situation is at all recoverable in my hands or should I seek the help listed above? I'm so lost and don't know what the hell happened while I was gone but can just about guarantee that no one was on my computer.

In the License Manager, click Manage Key Database and then click Rename Key Database.
Try again to generate a request code.

The error message indicates you are running an older version of the SPM License Server.
If you can get things working again, I recommend you upgrade to the latest SPM.

You can download the latest version of SPM from our Web site:

- Go to www.softimage.com/downloads
- Under SOFTIMAGE|XSI 6.5 Advanced, click Downloads
- Download SPM Server 1502 - Windows 32-bit & 64-bit
This version of SPM works with all versions of XSI (6.5 and earlier)

All right, thank you so much, after installing the SPM server, it has started working!
