Hi,

I am a stupid XSI newbie and have some difficulties with the licensing.

I got my XSI Essentials and dongle today, installed XSI and activated it with the temporary license.

Then I tried to submit a license request via the customer portal form but got no feedback wether that info was submitted after I had pressed "submit".
So I emailed license@softimage.com with the same info.

In the meantime I found some license in my account (thinking it was the permanent one) and downloaded it and installed it, but XSI still says that it will expire in 30 days.
SO: how do I know what license is the permanent one?

I really think this whole licensing thing is very confusing.

Thank you for helping me,
See ya, Dominiek

Hi Dominiek

Your permanent license has not been generated yet.

You can check this in the License Manager:

In the License Manager menu bar, click Server > Query License Server and then click Run Query.

In the license listing, do you see begin and end dates?

Hi Stephen and thank you for the help.

The problem is solved in the meantime: I've got my permanent license file from Softimage via mail, installed it and it no longer says that it will expire in 30 days.

What made it difficult for me was the huge amount of info in the wiki and on forums so that in the end I couldn't see the forrest through the trees, hehe.

Actually, there were 2 things that were confusing : 1: in my account a license had been generated and I couldn't tell wether it was a permanent one or not (it turned out to be not); and 2 : the submit form in the customer portal gave me no feedback if the info had been sent or not, so I didn't know what else to do than to ask it here.

Anyway, problem solved and now off into the training dvd that came with XSI.

Oh and thanks for the query-tip: yet something new learned!

Thanks and see you, Dominiek.
