View Full Version : Corrupt scene folder?

Hi,
I've just recovered from a pretty weird problem, which I couldn't really understand.
All of sudden XSI was unable to open any scenes from my project. It would crash and hang the system, forcing a restart. It would get about midway through the 'Loading Model' step of loading a scene.
Worse than that, if I used the XSI browser (or open dialog) to reach the scenes folder XSI would also crash the system.
I tried deleting preferences, runonce.bat etc., but to no avail. Finally I copied a most recent scene to a different computer, where it opened and re-saved ok. Deleting the contents of the original scene folder and placing the single working scene in there seems to have solved the problem, for now....
The scene folder was pretty big (350+ files, 1.6 GB), is this something that could be problematic? Any other ideas to avoid such drama (I've a big project due tomorrow), or less drastic solutions would be appreciated.
I'm on XSI 6.02.

Cheers.

Maybe it was something in the system folder?
You could try deleting any crash recovery files under "system\username".
Or maybe replace the system folder with the system folder from a brand new project.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
