I tried doing the stuff in the XSI wiki, but it didn't seem to work for me. The screen loads to the XSI main logo and I see the back part load up then it just stops completely. One thing I tried was the log file looking for errors, but I didn't find anything.

I'm really baffled here cause I have no problem loading up Maya Personal Learning Edition.

So you tried editing the xsily file to hide the OpenGL viewports?

Did you try clean booting?

What antivirus/security software are you using?

I did modify the .xsily file line 74 like it mentioned and I believe I did a clean boot. Windows firewall popped up, but I told the program to unblock XSI.

I do not have quick time running on my machine to give some further help. At the moment i'm running Trend Micro Anti-Virus and Webroot Anti-Spyware sweeper.

Do I have to authenticate something or type in a key to activate the program? Wondering if that could be the problem since I installed the program I never was asked to type in a registration key like Maya PLE.

The ModTool requires no activation.

See the XSI wiki for more info on clean booting:
http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_-_Clean_booting_your_computer

If XSI still crashes, the run Process Monitor (http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_with_Process_Monitor) when you try to start XSI.
Then upload the Process Monitor log to ftp.softimage.com/incoming and I'll take a look.

Sorry i'm not familiary with that ftp.softimage.com/incoming do I need an ftp program to upload it? If I do need an ftp program it's not a problem I have one.

You can just use a Web browser, and then drag the file from Windows Explorer to the Web browser window.

Ok thanks for the information on that i'm uploading the file right now. I put it into a .zip folder because the file was 100mb and the reading said it would have taken 1hr to upload it.

The file name is logfile and should be uploaded quite shortly since it got compressed to 15mb.

Hi

Can you try turning off SpySweeper and Trend AntiVirus ? Then try to start XSI.

In Process Monitor, you can use Tools > Process Tree to verify that they are not running.

Unfortunately that didn't seem to help either. I shut down webroot anti-spyware sweeper and turned protection status off for trend micro. I varified they weren't running with the Process tree. Do I need to upload the new log file so that it can be analyzed?

The only processes that were running were XSI, Explorer and at the very end of the log file Windows NT.

*Update*

I did find quick time installed on my machine. I uninstalled it rebooted my machine and tried to run XSI, but unfortunately that didn't work either.

Create a log, just in case.
I'll take another look at the log I have.

I do have a log file of when I turned off webroot and my anti-virus program. Tried to load it to the ftp.softimage.com/incoming but I received an error. Decided to upload the file to my website here http://mmodomination.com/Logfile/logfile.zip to avoid the problem.

Thankyou for the help it is very appreciated.

I'm afraid that the log still shows SpySweeper and Trend processes running.

That's odd I shut down spy-sweeper and disabled Trend-Micro Anti-virus protection. Unfortunately I didn't see a shut down command for Trend-Micro. When I clicked the process tree command and did the go to event for webroot and trend micro it couldn't find them.
