I'm having a few problems with mod tool, one in particular is annoying since it doesn't work AT ALL.

I can't seem to duplicate anything. I've tried both Ctrl+D and the actual button, but it gives me that message. I seem to be either missing the correct file or it was corrupted. I'm running Windows Vista, but running XSI with compatibility for XP Service Pack 2, and the only addon I have installed is the Valve Source one. Since I can't duplicate it really hampers my modelling, and I'd appreciate it if anyone knows what could be causing this, or how to fix it.

On top of this, my Subdivide Polygons/Edges does not work at all. There is no error message, and the shortcut does not work either. The small dialog box at the bottom left doesn't show that the subdivide command is being run.

If you use any sort of registry cleaner, run runonce.bat (http://community.softimage.com/blog.php?b=8).

See here:
http://www.xsibase.com/forum/index.php?board=29;action=display;threadid=28834;s tart=0#msg187217

If the problem is more general (eg you cannot create any ActiveX objects, not just XSI ones), then see this XSI wiki page:
http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/ERROR_:_ActiveX_component_can't_create_object:_'Sc ripting.FileSystemObject'

Did the runonce, I got about 20 'Registration errors' at the very end.

Well, that's a problem. Usually this indicates some sort of permissions problem.

You are not on Vista are you? If so, you have to run runonce.bat from an elevated command prompt.

And how would I do an elevated command prompt? Use the 'Run as administrator' command?

So you are on Vista?

Then, yes, instead of clicking the XSI Command Prompt shortcut, right-click it and click Run as Administrator. Then cd to %XSI_HOME%\Application\bin and run runonce.bat.
