Hello Everyone!

Here is a grandiflora houseplant within Max:

And I am exporting it as 3DS, preserving Max's texture coordinates.

Now, I have imported it into XSI, and it looks like this:

XSI has only recognized 2 objects, and therefore, could retrieve only 2 materials.

How can I make XSI recognize all different object, or at least the different kinds of objects, while keeping materials intact? For example, I don't need LEAF1, LEAF2, LEAF3, etc.. Just one object which has only all the leaves will do.

Please suggest me something!

Hi, try check your clusters, probably you have a cluster per imported object (if not try with a OBJ file, for me is a better format than 3DS) :)

PS: Sorry for my english

Thanks for your reply, César!
I did not try OBJ because OBJ stores the material information in MTL, which XSI does not recognize.
I tried Crosswalk too, which did bring the material info, but the materials got exported with messed up information. Partially washed out, partially darkened, it's a total mess.
For that one plant, Crosswalk could still bring something, because it had no texture, just simple phong material. But for the plants that have plant texture, all that's coming through is default material and deformed small poly grids used as texture base.

Ok, i understend, i don't know the way to don't miss the materials with the export/import procedure, only geometry and mapping :(

Any way, you imported objects maybe have some clusters where you can re assign the material to them like multi/sub-objects in 3dsmax (if uv are correct all will be fine)

Good Luck! :)

Thanks for your response, friend! Every response matters a lot! :)
Good Luck to you too!

I will try to find a way so that I don't have to collaborate between Max and XSI.
