Hi im very new to this and when I downloaded the MOd tool 6 I had a few problems.

1.) when I click and drag to select something the inside of the selection box is grey (sometimes black) and when I dont select an object and let go of the mouse the grey block stays there.

2.)another question I have is that when I have an object and select the tool raycast polygon and then try to select one side of the shape; the screen goes pure white and the object turns purple for some reason and when I let go of the mouse, for some reason it selecs more than 1 side of the object.

3.) THis is probaby an easy question to answer but I cant find any texues in the softimage folder except for the tutorial images and five others. Do I need to copy the textures from my source folder in order to get the textures or something?

If it helps, I have Windows Vista and my graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT

I think it's probably a Vista problem. First, make sure you're running latest video drivers.

Next, rt click desktop/Personalize/Windows Color&Appearance/Open classic appearance...\Windows Vista Basic or anything other than Aero.

I think there's a script somewhere that automatically changes it off aero when u launch xsi, and restarts it after you quit...

1) See this wiki article (http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/Vista_Known_Issues).

2) Usually something like this is related to the anti-aliasing settings of your driver (they should be set to application controlled).

3) Textures can be anywhere, or you can put into the XSI project folders (using the External Files Manager, or by doing a Scene Save As with Copy External Files to Project selected).

I have the same video card on Windows XP and had the same problems. Setting the anti-aliasing to application controlled fixed the problem. Thank You
