View Full Version : Smoke Simulation
In this short post I am going to talk about how we used and integrated built-in XSI particle system to make smoke simulation for our pipe smoker character in Vishka Studio’s current short animated movie Baran.

nice trick. Would have been nice to see a quicktime of it, to see it in motion :)

hmmm, I have to give that a closer look. Thanks.
It's really weird that there is no Fluid Solver for XSI. Lets keep our fingers crossed for XSI 7

Werner: and what about emFluid ? http://www.xsibase.com/forum/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=31944;s tart=0

I just downloaded the demo...will take a look. It does not create voxels like fumefx or the Maya fluid solver, which is a pity.

Werner: so Binary Alchemy volume shaders are maybe a solution ;) , I don't try them.
It's really weird that there is no Fluid Solver for XSI.
Not so weird considering the market share :wink: the ROI on a max plugin is simply way higher.
Hi there!
...if you followed the thread on the base, you know why XSI does not have a more advanced solver for fluids and voxels...itīs nearly a year now, since everybody is waiting for moondust and hoping it will contain a fluid-solver...I donīt know, if it will..
Well, until today, nothing has been released...so, comnunitys big waiting on moondust/ICE somehow did no good on 3rd party development in my opinion...

I haven't seen or heard anything about a fluid solver in Moondust/ICE in XSI 7...not even a rumour. Which thread on the base are you talking about? We can only hope...
What could be seen from the latest shows was that you can build some nice particles with ICE, but there wasn't no fluid solver whatsoever.
@werner
...I meant the thread mentioned above..it was about emfluid...and you are right, Iīve also heard nothing about a fluid-solver in the next version of XSI. Never the less, this "rumor" is there and keeps many people from buying something like emfluid an supporting this kind of development...
