Hello!
I wasn't sure where to post this...so I just put it here- please softimage gods spare me if this is out of line!
This is a blog entry detailing my explorations of a solution to this post on cgtalk:
http://gideonklindt.com/2008/05/01/creating-a-variable-width-path-that-traces-topological-changes
The person asking the question wanted to know a quick and easy way to have a little sonar device travel along the sea floor and leave a painted path way of where the beam had been.
In the end I use a simple technique that invoved an animated extrude of a beam like shape that acted as a mask in post.
Maybe someone will find this useful or has a better, proven way of doing this? Would like to know!
Thanks,
Gideon
