Hi all,
Based on feedback, we've updated the look of the community site for a cleaner look to assist with general readability and usability.
This is a temporary design while we work on a general web design overhaul that will implement a consistent design across all the websites.
If you have any feedback please feel free to post.
Thanks,
Leo

minimalist... just the way i like it
I think, since the creation, the dark look is pretty cool and doesn't make our eyes blinking as it often happens in too dark websites. Thumbnails at the top is a good idea (it remembers me the zbrushcentral forum). I would just prefer the width of the forum to be stretched to my screen.
Vbulletin is a good choice, better than phpbb and particularly xsibase based forum (too old, poor search system...), so I prefer surf this one !

I really like the new banner and the new backdrop, simple clean, cool and effective, no extra clutter and it looks great, not a big fan of the white on black text and bg though.
Thanks, Leo!
Looking forward to the final design.
Leo.

Where did the user's real name go? We use to see the user's real name under his nick name and I liked that. I hope it will be back in the next layout.
I'm looking forward to see the final layout.

Agreed. The white on black is a bit harsh in terms of contrast. Regular type should be a bright grey. Reserve the white for things that need to stick out such as links or unread post indicators.
Still not too crazy about the brown though as the chosen shade displayed as a flat color is just....ick. Wouldn't mind if it was modified to look like bronze, brass, or wood....or anything that isn't what it is now. Some forums leave those portions open for the user to tweak in their own custom stylesheets, so maybe that's the answer.

Much nicer leo! Though agreed the brown still isn't doing it for me...

Much better already even in its temp form.
It doesn't make me want to blind myself with a blunt pencil anymore.
Still not a huge fan of the colour scheme, but it doesn't compromise readability so much that I'll whinge about it in a transient phase :)
Looking forward to the re-design, and glad Soft has its ears open to community concerns as usual.
Best

Me too, all this hiding behind fake names, no good can come of it.

Agree, it was good when it displayed the real name.
And, the 'chocolate'-colored bar somehow doesn't suit this CG community.
I think lowering the brown saturation closer to gray would do.
