Hello everybody,
I have two 2 questions on 2 differents subjects...
1) Is it possible to convert a surface mesh to a polygonal object? (If I loft 2 circles together than I've got a surface mesh.. I want to convert it to a polygonal object).
2) What would be the best way to "bridge" the top 2 faces of 2 cubes with an "arch"? (using a curve and extruding along it with the top face of the first cube then merging the points with the tweak tool?)
Thank you for your help!

1) Model - Create - Poly Mesh - Nurbs to mesh
2 ) The way you want to do it seems good, but you could also merge the point with the bridge tool (select the two polygones you want to merge, and right click - bridge polygones) . Also I think you would like your cubes to be merged first.
I hope it helps.

Hi Sebastien,
Thanks for your answers...
1) I was looking for something like "surface to mesh"... didn't think to look for "nurbs" (since XSI doesn't create "nurbs", it create "surfaces"... I know, it's only "words" play but why having nurbs only in 1 place and surface everywhere else? anyway... Now I know it and will never forget it! :)
2) I'm not sure I understand your answer for number 2. The bridge tool seems to be good only for "flat" works (I'm sure I'm wrong with this but please be indulgent, I'm only a beginner at modeling - and it's not easy to explain in english what I mean... native language is french). What I'm looking for is the best way to do an arched doorway with XSI. The only method I found is using a curbe (or some form of arc) and extrude along it.
Thank you for your time...

Ok, I'l try to brake it down step by step.
1 - Merge your two cubes.
2 - Draw a curve.
3 - Select the polygone you wan't to extrude, and extrude it on that curve. ( I guess you already know that)
4 - The curve should still affect you polygones, so move it close to the polygone on the other cube.
5 - Select the last polygone on your extrusion and the one on your other cube.
6 - Use the bridge tool only to connect those two polygones.
I think it should work, if I understood your question in the first time.
p.s. I speak french too, but let's keep it in english, so everyone can participate ;)
