It seems the vast.ws-website isn't accessible anymore for anyone outside of the US, you can read more about it in this thread (http://community.softimage.com/showthread.php?t=1037). Some (but not all!) of the content vast.ws offers can be found on this site as well ("the Production Series").

For the record, I'm in the UK (London to be precise) andcan see the following URL with zero problems:
http://www.vast.ws/resources/xsi/tutorials/tutorials.html
(just clicked over there right now and it's all online and groovy)
Not sure what's going on here. Perhaps folks having trouble reaching this site should talk to their ISPs.
Ok, you're right, it works, but I have to use a proxy.

Yes, but while using a proxy,
are you still able to get the streaming-flash-content
(and at a reasonable speed)?

Just to be clear, I wasn't using a proxy and was getting perfect playback. So it look's like we're narrowing this down to proxy grief rather than "general site unavailable" woes...
Maybe the webmaster have buy bandwidth at low price, only for english speaking country :1eye:
I can't access at the whole site. Months ago, videos streamed very slowly when I could surf the site. Now, with proxy, it works perfect and quickly.

I wasn't trying to narrow it down one way or the other,
I just wanted to know,
if proxy-surfing this particular domain was worth the trouble or not...

I opened one of the vast.ws movies, it was the same as one of the movies available on this site, I think they're
all here.

The movies themselves are the same, obviously.
But Softimage|NET doesn't seem to host them all...
(Animation/Simulation/Rendering)

Thanks, franky.
I saw your post on XSIBase a while back.
I just didn't think, the files would still be "up" there...
That's awesome, thanks Franky

Thanks a lot, Franky! I can't access Vast any more (from the Netherlands; how does this 'proxy-surfing' work? I just get a 'connection timed out' response since about a month and a half) and was just going through all their (very good I think) tutorials. You putting them up saves my day!
(...blabla about flv-players, edited out...)
EDIT: Ah, never mind! I see that you've uploaded the entire DVD - with menus and chapterjump-thingy and all. Brilliant! Thanks again, Franky.
