Hi
i got two "problems" of understanding the XSI-Workflow:
1. How do i achieve something like the symmetry modifier of max or the instance symmetry option in Silo?
As far as i know, i have to clone the mesh and then scale it -1 on the x-Axis. After that i have to clone that clone again, merge both of them and then make them unselectable. Afterwards i can work with the original half and see the result on the cloned meshes...
A bit complicated but ok...
But i have to issues with that:
- When i extrude polys, who have one edge along x=0, then i get Polys on the inside of the model and have to delete them by hand...
Is there a way to prevent that? Because of this is i have to manually recreate the symmetrized mesh after i finished it.
Also is there a way to fix the welding at the middle axis? When i move a Point over the axis or on the axis, the chance is high, that the seam getīs disconnected or the mesh gets pushed into each other.
2.
Is there a script/function like "Make Planar", "View Align" or "Flatten Poilygons" in XSI?
Iīve heard, that i should select the polys, than choose scale, local and then scale the axis that i want to zero.
But this doesnīt really work sometimes...so it would be great to have a function, that does this everytime.
This could be very handy to make sure, that the symmetry axis is always perfectly aligned to x= 0...and there are lotīs of other times where this could be usefull, as it is much more predictable then the sometimes working way of scaling
