Hello everyone! I am making a bicycle, which kinda looks like Van Nicholas Zephyr. I am not paying attention to all the exact details, but I am trying to be close. Now, I want to place this shape on top of the pedal. Here is a pic of the pedal and the shape I drew:

Now, as you can see, the pedal is not flat. It's thicker in one side, thinner toward the other. If I try CURVES TO MESH, it will make a flat object, which won't blend in with the pedal. Is there a way to emboss that shape on the pedal? In Maya, I would use project curve on surface, but in XSI, I don't know what to do.

Somebody please help!

Hello,

have you tried shrinkwrap? I believe it works with curves as well. I'm not in front of XSI right now so I can't make some tests for you.

You could try emboss or displacement as well no?

EDIT: If the pedal is a NURBS surface you could use "Deform by Surface" on the curve. If it's a polygonal mesh you could try "Deform by Cage" making sure your cage has enough resolution.

EDIT2: I made some tests last night and you should try shrink wrap if your target object is polygonal, deform by surface if it's NURBS.

I believe in Maya to project curve on surface your target object must be NURBS right? so it's exactly the same behavior as deform by surface in XSI.

Cheers,

Felipe
