View Full Version : ultimapper wont work again.

i recently ran ultimapper to get my normalmap and ambocc for a man/zombie character, the first run wasn't very good and had a dark patch where the distance passed through the opposing leg.
but when i tried a second time and every subsequent time since, all i get as a result is blank ambocc and grey blocks for the normal map.
another thing that has happened is my model is now very colourful, it's not attached to the shader as new shaders maintain the same thing, i can't see what's causing it in the explorer either.
some assistence would be greatly appreciated as i stupidly haven't saved before running ultimapper and will put myself out some hours to go back to a previous build
i have run into the normal and ambocc problem with ultimapper in the past and the only way i was able to get it working again was to select all the polygons in the object and detach them to a new object(freeze the modeling on this object) then delete the old empty object and try again(you may also need to export this new object to a model and import into a new scene).
the colourfull shader thing? its a bit hard to know what that problem is there with out a screenshot or a scenefile, but you could open an explorer window, with your mouse over the explorer window press m to change to material view and you might find your old shader is in the list but not assigned.
anyway i hope some of this might be usefull

i had tried to leave my pc running until someone came up with a solution i hadn't tried, but as you know we had a storm come through that arvo so i'm right at that point i didn't want to be at.
oh well, from here on out i'll ensure i save the scene before running ultimapper.
if you look under your projects folder you will see a backup folder you might be lucky enough to have a version auto saved there

it's a moot point next time i ran ultimapper the pc overheated (unrelated problem) and terminally shut down the pc. i now have a vista pc and i've just got email fiunctioning now

it seems ultimapper can only be used once, the first instance of ultimapper cannot be closed down or freeze model cannot be used or else nothing will happen.
it also changes the colours in the scene irreversibly but i can't see what exactly is actually being changed. the renders still come out correctly so it's not an issue it just looks weird. the colours are not apparant if using textured decal only textured.

that's the result, there is some minor issues with it, but overall it combined those 9 seperate meshes into one flattened image very well
